About Tailwind
Is Tailwind a lender?
No. We're a credit broker — we match your business to a panel of lenders and help you compare their offers. The funding itself comes from the lender, not from us.
Are you authorised by the FCA?
Not currently. We work only with limited companies and other incorporated businesses, which sits outside the FCA's consumer-credit perimeter, so authorisation isn't required for what we do today. We've built the firm to FCA standards and intend to seek authorisation as we grow.
Which businesses can use Tailwind?
UK limited companies (and other incorporated bodies such as LLPs). We don't currently broker funding for sole traders or ordinary partnerships.
How it works
Does checking my options affect my credit score?
No. You can see indicative options from a soft check that leaves no footprint on your credit file. A hard search only happens later, with your consent, if you proceed with a lender.
Do I have to register before I see anything?
No. You get matched and see indicative options first — there's no sign-up wall before your result, unlike many brokers.
How long does it take?
The initial check takes a few minutes. Once you connect your financials and we place your application, straightforward cases are often funded within 24–48 hours, depending on the lender and product.
Why connect my bank and accounting software?
So lenders price on your real numbers rather than a homeowner guarantee or guesswork. It typically means better-matched offers — and you stay in control of access, which you can withdraw at any time.
Does it cost me anything?
No — our service is free to use. We're paid by the lender only if your funding goes ahead, on the same basis whichever lender you choose, so it never changes the deal you're offered.
Your data
Is connecting my bank safe?
Yes. Open Banking access is provided through an FCA-authorised provider; we never see or store your banking login, access is read-only, and you can withdraw it at any time.
Where is my data held?
In the UK. Sensitive information is encrypted, access is tightly controlled and audited, and we only collect what an application actually needs.
